Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., increased security when it reopened Wednesday. On February 14, 17 students and teachers were shot to death on  campus. Police report that it was the third deadliest shooting by a single gunman at a U.S. school in history. Reuters says the Florida high school opened for a new year with three armed uniformed sheriff’s deputies. It also doubled its security staff to 18. "I know the extra security is necessary, but it makes you know that your school isn’t normal,” says 15-year-old sophomore Nariah Depina. Former student Nikolas Cruz is accused of killing the 17 teenagers and teachers  with an assault weapon. He is currently awaiting trial on 17 counts of first-degree murder.
